Houston, TX – May 8, 2025 – Hunton Group is honored to welcome Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel and his father, Theodis Daniel, as special guests at the 7th Annual Cool Rides & Hot Rods event on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Hosted in partnership with the Houston Police Department, this community-focused event combines a love for classic cars with a commitment to giving back.
Proceeds from the event will support the Hunton Group Backpacks for Kids Program, which provides school supplies and backpacks to children in need for the 2025–2026 academic year.
DJ Daniel, a 13-year-old from Houston, has inspired thousands with his courage and relentless positivity. Diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer in 2018 and given just five months to live, DJ has defied the odds—and made it his mission to be sworn in by as many law enforcement agencies as possible. To date, he has been honored by 1,250 departments nationwide.
His journey began after Hurricane Harvey, when DJ was moved by the heroic efforts of first responders. Since then, he has been named an honorary officer in cities across the country and gained national attention when President Donald Trump recognized him as an honorary U.S. Secret Service Agent during a joint session of Congress.
“I’m going to keep on going until my gas tank runs out,” DJ says. “If you’ve got cancer, don’t give up on life. Just pray, believe in God, and keep the negative energy out of your mind.”
DJ’s father, Theodis Daniel, adds,
“It’s your spirit—your fuel—that keeps you going. Staying positive is what keeps DJ moving forward.”
